I had the pleasure of making 2D animations of medieval images for the Friulian director Marco D’Agostini to tell a legend in a documentary on the Patriarchate of Aquileia.
I worked in collaboration with another animator, who did the drawings, to create a section of the film where the legend of the birth of the Patriarchate of Aquileia was told.
Role
- 2D Animation
- Videomaking
The video contains only a few examples of the animations I worked on and not the whole film.
Patriae
Patriae – Viaggio nel Patriarcato di Aquileia (Journey through the Patriarchate of Aquileia) is the journey of Carolina, a 14-year-old girl who is researching an important phase of history and collecting the most significant passages of more than three centuries of events (1077-1420).
From its foundation to its progress as a fluid political-religious entity, a synthesis between centre and peripheries, city and countryside, up to its decline also due to the alliance of part of the Friulian nobility with the Venetians.
In the succession of these narrative frames, the protagonist meets the symbolic figures associated with each period, imagines constructions and ambushes, observes works of art and monuments, and listens to the words of experts. She leads us through the meanders of a dense history full of suggestions and inspirations.
